scheduling sql sp needing to access mapped network drives

How to make network drives accessible to a stored procedure? Currently the sp works only if I open a session on the server and execute the sp with SQL Server Management Studio on the server.

If you want to use ressources within the network you will need appropiate permissions either for the service account SQL Server Service is running with or the service account SQL Server Agent is running with (if you do that within a scheduled job). An alternative would be to setup a proxy account for the service [1]

In SQL Server 2005 proxy accounts can also be configured through the Configuration interface which you will find in the program collection.

|||Moving to "SQL Server Database Engine", which is more suitable for this question.|||You want to access via UNC instead of mapped network drive (i.e. \\server\shared).

Scheduling

Hi there
I have uploaded some reports to our reporting services server, however I
want to be able to have them emailed to clients outside the network at the
end of each week,
Can you explain how to do this?
Regards
TimYou can set up a subscription via the subscription tab in Report Manager.
If you are using the Enterprise edition of Report Server you will want to
take a look into Data Driven Subscriptions.
You can find more information here:

Here is information of Data Driven Subscriptions:

Scheduled sql cannot access the network drives?

I have a stored procedure performing several tsql operations with MS
Access and Excel files stored into the network file system, and
therefore using OpenDataSouce with these files in the network,
accessible through mapped network drives.

My user has a profile that maps the necessary network drives at boot.
SQL Server runs on the server with an account created for that. This
accont has also a profile mapping the necessary network drives.

The stored procedure runs fine only if I launch it with SQL Server
Management Studio on the server, logging in directly on the server (at
this point the network drives are mapped correctly).

If I launch the Stored Procedure with SQL Server Management Studio on
my client, it doesn't find the network drives and fails.

The same happens when I schedule the stored procedure on the server
with SQL Server Agent, which runs with an account performing the
mapping in its profile.

Any ideas how to make it work?

A suggestion in common, don′t use mapped network driver, use UNC paths !

If you want to use ressources within the network you will need appropiate permissions either for the service account SQL Server Service is running with or the service account SQL Server Agent is running with (if you do that within a scheduled job). An alternative would be to setup a proxy account for the service [1]

Scheduled reports not running

Hi
We having problems running our scheduled reports.
A domain admin had originally scheduled them under her network username
which as i said had domain admin rights. Those domain rights where taken away
from her username and then we created a sql user name to run the report,
since then the scheduled reports do not run and not quite sure where to look.
Reporting the username on sql has accessadmin rights and public rights on
the reporting databases, does anyone have an inkling of what might be going
on?
I have checked the log but it doesn't give any errors it just says this

basically it looks as though the report has run' but i know it hasn't.Did you check all three logs, keep in mind there may be multiple logs for the
same day:
- ReportServerWebApp
- ReportServerService
- ReportServer
Are there any errors in any of these at the time the subscription was
supposed to run?
Also, does the log on account running the ReportServer service a Domain
Admin account? It needs to be able to look up account credentials for RS
users on your network.
And, is your ReportServer instance configured to work with Windows
authentication, SQL Authentication or both?
Thanks.

Scheduled Printouts

Is there a way to schedule report to be printed to network printer? No, not by default. We provide a sample for how to do this in the book
online that comes with RS V1. Look for printer delivery sample.

Schedule DTS Package

I have MS SQL installed on my workstation at work. I am trying to use DTS to export data from our local network that uses a Pervasive DB to our web server that is hosted with another company.

If I go in and manually execute the DTS package from my workstation, it send the data to the web server.

If I try to schedule the DTS Package to automatically send the data, it fails. SQL Server Agent is running on my workstation and on the web server.

Is what I am trying to do possible? What am I doing wrong? This is a very frequent problem and it is related to permissions.

This is a KB article that describes the problem and the solution:INF: How to Run a DTS Package as a Scheduled Job
