Scheduling SSRS reports using an external scheduling package
processes on most of our systems. Is there a way to trigger the
running of an SSRS report this way? And, what the specifics of what
is takes with some examples of how and what needs to be interfaced?

You can look into the rs.exe utility. Also, you might want to consider
calling a URL similar to this one to obtain the physical report file
and then attach it to an email. You can do this in ASP.NET (attaching
the file to an email, streaming the report file directly from an
HTTPRequest of the URL below), etc. It's up to you're preference and
expertise.
http://ServerX/reportserver?/Directory/ReportName&rs:Command=Render&Param1=Param1Value&rs:Format=PDF
Format:
http://<ServerName>/reportserver?/<Directory>/<ReportName>&rs:Command=Render&<ParameterName>=<ParameterValue>&rs:Format=<PDF/CSV/XML/Excel/MHTML>
Hope this helps.

Scheduling reports to run
Hello John,
Yes, of course you can.
Open Report Manager. (http://ServerName/Reports) and drill down to your report you want to schedule. Click on the Properties tab from the tob and the Data Sources tab from the left. Verify that you connection is correct and select 'Credentials stored securely in the report server' and give it an account to run the report. Then go to the Subscriptions tab from the top and hit 'New Subscription'. If you want to save to Excel, then select 'Report Server File Share' and set your options. Down at the bottom, you can set the schedule of the report.
Hope this helps.

you weren't using Reporting Services and were just making plans.
Anyway, a few of what you need to understand. Search in books online for
snapshot, schedule and history. Reading up on those things should get you
started. Here are a few links to get you rolling:

Scheduling Reports
The first report (rpt A) has an sql database field that has a number 1 and number 0. 1 refers to reports to be scheduled and 0 means no reports are scheduled or have been scheduled already.
I want my report to go and check this database field, so when it equals 1 it will trigger an event to schedule a second report (rpt B). Once scheduled, rpt A flags the database field to zero.
Is this possible? Please help.
Best regardsI am not sure what you meant
Add rpt B as a subreport in rpt A
Then goto format section where rpt B located and in the suppress option write this code
{rpt A Field}=0

there plug ins or something else from microsoft that could be missing? I have
SQL Server 2005 SP1 running on my PC (windows 2003). Any step by step
documentation?Reports are scheduled through Report Manager... Go to
http://<yourserver>/reports
Then select a report.
You should see a subscriptions tab, where you can schedule.
To schedule a report, the data source MUST use Credentials Stored Securely

Scheduling Report Delivery to Printers
Have any of you work with Extensions to schedule delivery of reports
directly to printers?
I played a little bit with the sample Delivery Extension provided by
Microsoft, I do not seem to get it to work.
Any ideas of how to schedule RS to print reports automatically?
ThanksThis is something I spent a lot of time on about a year ago without any
success.
The MS extensions I tried would almost work but it scaled the report just a
touch wrong and cut off text so it was of no use to me.
I would be very interested in solution myself.

just a part of the day as my question was.
I can schedule it to run once per hour 24 hours a day, but not just between
e.g. 0800 and 1700, or am I just dumb?

Scheduling multiple reports at one time
Hi,
I need my reports to run at the 4rth day of every month. I have packs of reports, and typically upto 18 reports in a pack and these packs have to run on the 4rth of every month.
How can i schedule the 18 reports to run at the same time. I don't want to schedule a time for every report ,this is very laborious. Is there any option in SSRS for simulataneously scheduling of these reports?
Thanks
Hi,
You can achieve this functionality by using a Shared Schedule.
In the case the question is if you can assign the schedule to all reports at once, the answer is not by using the web interface, but you can create an script to do so.
In the case you're asking to chain the report processing (i.e.:start report 2 when report 1 is finished), you will need to revert to a script again.

Scheduling approach
of data, I just want to run it once a day. This report has few
selections fields, for different people they want to see different
selection criteria, is there a way I can just schedule it once for wide
open selection and each person based on this generic report to narrow
down to their own small set of data? thanksI use email to notify the end user for the "new" genereated report, but
why each time the user click the link, instead of giving the snapshot,
the link do the RE-Generat report? how do i let user only see the
snapshot, it is a big report.|||On the report options, set the execution to execute from a snapshot and set
the snapshot creation for a quiet time to avoid impacting OLTP. Then set up a
subscription to run when content is refreshed (available only for snapshot
reports). You will need to set up default parameters, but if chosen to return
NULL data, you effectively get an email with a notice of report content
update with a dummy report attached.

Scheduling
I have uploaded some reports to our reporting services server, however I
want to be able to have them emailed to clients outside the network at the
end of each week,
Can you explain how to do this?
Regards
TimYou can set up a subscription via the subscription tab in Report Manager.
If you are using the Enterprise edition of Report Server you will want to
take a look into Data Driven Subscriptions.

No, you use reporting services.|||Do both: use SQL Mail to send a message that the report is ready, but use SQ
L
Reporting Services for the actual report.
Why would you need to send a large amount of data through e-mail? Don't they
get enough spam anyway? ;)

Or you could use Reporting Services to both render and send notification via
email.

Scheduled reports not working - service account
I'm just getting my feet wet with Scheduled reports in SSRS2005, and have
hit a snag...
The schedule is not working, and when I check the job history on SQL Server
I find the message:
'EXECUTE AS LOGIN' failed for the requested login 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK
SERVICE'. The step failed.
I find if I go into Management Studio, I can change the NETWORK SERVICE to a
domain user account, and everything works - but then I can't change the
subscription properties from Report Manager.
SQL Server & SSRS are both running on Windows Server 2003 under a domain
account, and the data/SSRS connection points to an SQL Server 2000 Database
on a different server in the domain.
Any ideas? I've gone through the security recommendations and still can't
find a solution.
Regards
GrantHi
Don't worry about responding to this one - I figured it out...
Fixed it by setting everything to use the NetworkService account, except for
the SQL Agent - I found one of my mistakes was changing the account from the
Service Manager, instead of the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Anyway - all is well and reports are running as scheduled.
Thanks
Grant

Scheduled reports not running
We having problems running our scheduled reports.
A domain admin had originally scheduled them under her network username
which as i said had domain admin rights. Those domain rights where taken away
from her username and then we created a sql user name to run the report,
since then the scheduled reports do not run and not quite sure where to look.
Reporting the username on sql has accessadmin rights and public rights on
the reporting databases, does anyone have an inkling of what might be going
on?
I have checked the log but it doesn't give any errors it just says this

basically it looks as though the report has run' but i know it hasn't.Did you check all three logs, keep in mind there may be multiple logs for the
same day:
- ReportServerWebApp
- ReportServerService
- ReportServer
Are there any errors in any of these at the time the subscription was
supposed to run?
Also, does the log on account running the ReportServer service a Domain
Admin account? It needs to be able to look up account credentials for RS
users on your network.
And, is your ReportServer instance configured to work with Windows
authentication, SQL Authentication or both?
Thanks.

Scheduled Reports Not Being Sent Out
I have several scheduled reports that have been running every morning and being emailed out to many recipients. One day it all stopped. There are no error messages. It just doesn't work any more.
I have tried re-deploying them to the report server and rescheduling the jobs but they still don't run.
There are no error messages in the Reporting services log?
Is this RS 2005? I had a problem recently with the SMTP server name specified in the RS Config Tool, I had to use the IP address of the SMTP server rather than the name of it and it fixed the problem. It was something to do with a DNS issue we had.
Might be worth a try.
|||Hi,
Same problem I have now as you had, I wonder how did you solve your problem.
Please advise,
Frank
|||There has to be some information in the error log of SQL Server Reporting services (stack trace or an informal message). Please post that here.

Scheduled reports never run
ever run. I have tried creating subscriptions that run both at a preset
time and according to a shared schedule. In the ReportServerService log
files, I see that polling of various types is initiated but nothing after
that. The Cleanup runs every 10 minutes but nothing elese does. See log
file below:

Shouldn't there at least be an indication that events are triggered and why
reports can't run?
Interestingly, if I look at the Shared Schedules in Report Manager and the
"Next Run" shows the expected time (which has now elapsed) but the "Last
Run" still says "Never Run".
I have tries restarting SQLSERVERAGENT and Reporting Service services, as
well as completely rebooting.
Thanks for your help!Is there an error listed on the job in JOBS on the SQL server? And if so what are they?

Management -> SQL Server Agent -> Jobs there will be a list of all the jobs on your server (SQL Server Agent is like a daemon that
runs in the backgroup and runs timed tasks on the server, this is what reporting services uses to kick off reports that are on a
schedule)
One you see all the jobs you will find out that all your reporting services schedules are a mixture of letters and numbers. If you
look in the "Last Run Status" column you should see one with "Failed" (You can sort out the list by clicking on the "category" title
and looking where "Report Server" is entered. Right click on your failed job and choose "View job History". Then check the "Show
step details" box on the top right of the dialog box.
You can then click on the steps and get the server messages for that step (if any). Any error message information will be stored
there.

Scheduled reports
Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,Hi,
As far as I experienced there are few places where we can check the status of a scheduled report.
One of them is the reports' subscriptions tab ( http://reportserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx ) when you open the properties page for that report on the reports directory. There exists a status column.
Also when you edit the subscription for that report again on the same page above, you will be redirected to http://reportserver/Reports/Pages/SubscriptionProperties.aspx page. There is the schedule name which is used by the SQL Server instance where the ReportServer databases are installed.
If you go open Jobs list by using SQL Server Enterprise Manager, you can see the job in the list. Again detailed status information for that job can be seen there. Or by opening the job history screen from the context menu.
Or you can check the Event Viewer for the ReportServer service specific messages.

Hi:
I set up a report that pulls data from the ExecutionLog table from the ReportServer DB.
If there is an error, it can be read from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\LogFiles

Scheduled report printing?
We are running SQL Server 2000 and would like to have a series of reports
print out each morning without user intervention. What would be the best
way to accomplish this? If this is not the correct news group for this type
of question please direct me to the correct one.
Thanks in advance,
LinnThanks Igor, that's an interesting article. Too bad I don't have Visual
Studio, or Reporting Services for that matter. I also just noticed that the
article is for SQL Server 2005, we are using SQL Server 2000 still, wonder
if it would work for our version too.
I wonder if a third party software package like Crystal Reports would offer
this option?
Thanks,
Linn

Scheduled Emailing of SRS Reports
wandered into long discussions involving byzantine XML into config
files, and complicated class object creation, and I hope this is
mistaken... but is there truly no easy way to simply schedule a report
to be sent via email? I'm hoping for a nice wizard that lets me (a)
pick a report, (b) pick a schedule, and (c) select my recipients...
If there is such a wizard (or, I guess even more importantly if there
isn't), does anybody have a step by step instruction set to get this
to work? Or should I just tell my clients "never mind"...
Many thanks,
DaveA subscription for a report does all this. It is almost a wizard. If
you haven't read up on this, check it out. One issue though is that I
believe that subscriptions require the Enterprise edition.

Schedule your own reports
Can i in reporting services 200 create some application that loops through and generates the reporting services report and email to the recepiant I specify in the mini application. I do not want to schedule the job in reporting services as the person receiving the email will be different each time based on criteria. If anyone knows the syntax to generate a report and pass the parameters, email and format it would be much appreciated
Lee,
You can using the Reporting Service Web API or you can write .NET code to generate our report, connect with System.web.mail. to email it, and you can use the render of the response to give for different type whether it's HTML, EXCEL and etc...
Here's a URL to get you going:
