Scheduled Database Backup for MS SQL Server 2000

I've been trying to make our server to schedully create a backup for our database. The problem is when I'm done with the scheduling and click 'OK', I again open "database">>all task>> back up, all the properties which I entered are all gone.You need to look under the management, sql server agent node and then look at jobs.
