Scheduling PSSDIAG
I got this PSSDIAG from MS and i want to schedule that way i need not be the
on the machine or lock the machine.
Is there a way i can schedule this so that i start and stop the schedule so
that PSSDAIG starts and stops.
Any Help on this is appreciated.Use Windows Task scheduler, assuming its an exe file (I don't recall is
there is a way to schedule it within the tool itself).

Scheduling not working
Does RS have to be installed on the same machine as SQL Server in order to
get scheduling to work?
I created a schedule to run every minute (for testing). The time has come
and gone, and the Next Run time on the Shared Schedules screen isn't
changing, and the Last Run column shows Never. So scheduling isn't working.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
MikeNo, I don't think so. However, scheduling is dependent on SQL Agent running
so make sure it is running on the database server.

1) RS CAN be on different machine.
2)Make sure that the SQL Agent is running.

Scheduling an SSIS package that invokes a web service
Hey,
I have an SSIS package that invokes a web service and then updates a table. It runs fine as long as I am running it on the local machine. However, as soon as I save this package to the sql server, and try to schedule this as a job, it starts to fail. Now, the web service writes to an xml file and also uses an xsd and and an xsl file. When I save a dts package to the sql server, whats the proper way of referencing these files? I think this probably is what is making the package to fail, ut I am not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
You should use a configuration (right-click in the package and choose configurations) to set the ConnectionString property of the connection managers for the files. Or you could use expressions to set the connection strings (paths and filenames) based on variables. The variables can be set at runtime using the /SET option of DTEXEC.|||Also make sure you've configured SSIS logging, so you can find out why the package fails now or (once you fix the problem and go to production) if something goes wrong with scheduled package in production.|||That depends on where you want to keep them. I prefer to keep them in files on the disk. If your package is in SQL and you prefer to avoid the disk entirely, you can keep them in the database and just load them into variables via the Execute SQL task. The XML task and the XML Source component support receiving the XSD/XSLT from variables.|||Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I will try them out and see how it works.|||
Hey,
Sorry for this delayed reply. Since I posted this question a lot of issues cropped up with my SQL server which eventually led to a total reinstallation of all apps on my pc. Anyway, I discovered that the problem I have been having was because of permission issues. I was able to fix that problem and just when I thought that I had everything going, I came across a new problem. After I save the SSIS package in sql server and create a job, the job starts failing. This is the error that I am getting:
-1073548540,0x,An error occurred with the following error message: "Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.WebServiceTask.WebserviceTaskException: The Web Service threw an error during method execution. The error is: Unable to connect to the remote server.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks!
|||Could it be a authentication issue? Is there any security on the web service?|||Guys!!Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. Really appreciate your help. Problem was a combination of many issues. One was related to 32bit/64bit differences, the other was authentication, and finally some syntax problems when invoking the web service. Seems it is working really well now.
Thanks again!

Schedule Backup issue using Enterprise Manager
Advanced Server and SQL Server 2000 SP2. On each db, I right click and
created a backup task and set a reoccurring scheduled time for daily back
ups. What's weird and someone frustrating is that the tasks ALWAYS append
existing data which makes the backups unnecessarily large and the scheduled
time never sticks. I'll go in a click Overwrite Existing Data and set the
back up time each day and it never says these changes. I've even tried to
remove the task(s) and create new ones from scratch and it won't let me
remove the old ones. Each day, it appends the existing data and the
scheduled time is never there (even though the auto backups do occur...not
sure why).
So...each and every day, I have to go and manually backup each db. Not a
huge deal but a bit frustrating since EM should do this for me. Any ideas?
Is this a known issue?
TIA!
-SIf you use Enterprise Manager and the Backup Database task
by right clicking on a database, this will create a job
named something like YourDatabase backup
The job will have a T-SQL step that will execute the T-SQL
backup statement that was generated when you scheduled the
task. If you need to make changes, you need to modify the
job rather than trying to go back in through the task part
of Enterprise Manager.
You can modify the schedule from the schedule tab of the
job.
If the job was initially created to append, the backup
command in the job step with include WITH NOINIT. You can
change this to WITH INIT if you want to overwrite the
backups. You can find more information on the BACKUP
DATABASE statement that is generated and it's options in
books online under backup.
